YULEE, Fla. – A Florida panther, which was rescued after likely being hit by a car, is on the road to recovery.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) reported that the young female cat is steadily rehabilitating at the White Oak Conservation Center in Yulee.
The FWC rescued the panther in May after a Collier County resident reported an injured panther in his yard. The big cat had a broken leg.
After surgeries at the Animal Specialty Hospital of Florida and the University of Florida, biologists said the panther has been moved to a larger outdoor enclosure.
They are optimistic she will eventually be returned to the wild.
