Returning soldier surprise photobombs son

Corporal James Bass has been stationed in Kuwait for a year

DURHAM, N.C. – For most kids, school picture day ranks right up there with going to the dentist or doing your homework.

But one elementary school student in North Carolina will always remember the day he was told to smile and "Say cheese!"

While 8-year-old Joshua Bass was posing for his seemingly mundane portrait, his father, Corporal James Bass, snuck up behind his son to photobomb the picture.

After snapping the picture, the photographer showed it to the third grader at Pearsontown Magnet Elementary who seemed confused about how his dad was in the background.

It was then, after some prodding by the photographer, that Joshua turned around to see his father. After a few seconds of disbelief, Joshua jumped into James' arms and didn't let go.

While some student pictures end up in a box in the back of the closet, you can bet this one will be featured in the Bass house for years to come.
