Reward increased for information in Oakland Park homicide

$5,000 reward offered leading to arrests in Nicole Franco's death

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – The reward has increased for information that helps leads to the arrest of those responsible for the death of a 19-year-old woman, deputies said.

Broward County Crime Stoppers said it will pay up to $3,000 for information leading to arrests related to Nicole Franco's homicide. An additional reward of up to $2,000 is also being offered by friends and family. Deputies said the reward up to $5,000 expires Aug. 5, 2015.

Franco was found dead June 3 inside her home at the Bridgewater Place Apartments at 2800 NW 44th St.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dani Moschella said Franco called 911 to report a burglary at her apartment, but she didn't give a precise address.

Deputies arrived at the complex and went door-to-door looking for evidence of a crime. Eventually they stumbled upon an open sliding-glass door at Franco's first-floor apartment and called out to her, but there was no response. Once inside, deputies found Franco's body.

The next morning, deputies were called to a medical emergency at 580 NW 41st St., BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said. When deputies arrived, they found Amaya Cruz, 17, dead at the scene.
