Robber points gun at customer making ATM deposit

Armed robbery occurs at Chase branch in Lauderdale Lakes

Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are trying to identify the gunman who robbed another man at an ATM in Lauderdale Lakes.

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – Detectives are hoping surveillance images will help them find a gunman who robbed another man who was using an automated teller machine in Lauderdale Lakes.

The armed robbery occurred just after midnight Friday while Jherry Sylia was making a deposit at a Chase bank branch on Oakland Park Boulevard.

Broward Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Gina Carter said Sylia finished his deposit and was waiting for the receipt when the man approached him, pointed a gun at Sylia's waist and ordered Sylia to give him everything.

Carter said the thief got away with Sylia's driver's license, several bank cards and a small amount of cash.
