MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - A 22-year-old man was arrested Thanksgiving morning on multiple charges after police say he fled after attempting to rob a Miami Gardens gas station.
Surveillance video captured the robber, identified by police as 22-year-old Johnny Love, inside the Shell gas station on Northwest 7th Avenue around 5:40 a.m. Thursday.
WATCH: Raw video of armed robbery
After pulling out his gun and jumping over a food counter, video shows Love hit his head against a concrete beam.
As the crook went to pick up his hat, the clerk tripped a silent alarm.
"The alarm company called me and I called here and said, 'What happened?'" said another clerk who works at the gas station. "The robber just came here."
In an effort to buy police some time, the clerk handed over plastic bags and told the gunman to take whatever he wanted.
Excited by the opportunity, Love grabbed gum by the handful while dropping his gun.
"They filled up two bags of candy," the clerk said.
Love then made his way to the back of the gas station where he loaded up on beer. Afterwards, video shows the man run out of the gas station only to see one of the bags break.
With beer bottles now everywhere, he began to pick them up. Clearly frustrated, video shows Love throw one of the bottles up in the air.
For the next two minutes, Love kept gathering the beer until police arrived.
Officers then ordered him to drop his weapon, at which time police said he refused and attempted to flee the area.
A short foot chase ensued and police said Love was taken into custody on the side of the business without incident.
No one was injured in the incident and the money was recovered, police said.
"We got a dangerous subject off the streets of Miami Gardens," said Det. Wright.
Love was charged with armed robbery, firearm/commission of a felony, criminal mischief, carrying a concealed firearm and resisting arrest without violence.
