Roommate accused of breaking puppy's leg after dog does business on bed

Dog owner wants roommate to pay operation bill

MIAMI ā€“ A South Florida man said he wants his roommate to pay for his 4-month-old puppy's veterinarian bills after the roommate allegedly broke the dog's leg.

Jimmy Diaz told police that his puppy did its business on his roommate's bed last week. He said his roommate then grabbed the dog by the neck and slammed it to the ground.

Diaz was told that the puppy suffered a broken leg and that it would need an expensive surgery.

The dog is still in the animal hospital because Diaz wants the roommate to pay for the operation.

"The dog is inside now (and) has been there without the surgery," Diaz told Local 10 News. "The surgery has to be done ASAP. And to this day, I still get no response from the roommate, though."

Police told Diaz they cannot charge the roommate because there were no witnesses. Diaz said he plans to sue his roommate.
