Royal baby excitement hits South Florida

Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William welcome baby boy

SUNRISE, Fla. – The excitement over the royal baby hit South Florida.

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and husband Prince William on Monday welcomed their first child. The baby boy was born at 4:24 p.m., weighing 8 pounds, 6 ounces. A name has not yet been announced for the child, who is now third in line to the throne.

At Kingshead Pub in Sunrise, a handful watched the news.

"It's great news," said Sarah Mendham, who is from England. "They make such a big fuss about it in England. It's just a brilliant excuse to have a party."

"I think it's very good for them, and I'm very happy for them," added Eddie Agnew, who is from Scotland.

But not everyone was enthralled.

"It's not mine and I'm not English," said one man at the bar.
