Search on for group of migrants who landed in Golden Beach

Police say 6 adults, 2 children currently in protective custody

GOLDEN BEACH, Fla. – Police say they are currently searching for a group of about 25 people from Haiti, Trinidad and Jamaica who came ashore in Golden Beach.

At this time, Golden Beach police said 6 adults and 2 children are in protective custody.

Air Rescue and the Miami-Dade Police Department Aviation Coast Guard are searching the water with their glare system over Intracoastal Waterway and the beach.

Miami police said one man was pulled out of Intracoastal Waterway and was taken to Aventura Hospital with a head injury. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Officials gave them water and are bringing them food.

Golden Beach Marine Patrol and the Coast Guard are still searching finger canals behind homes on water. The investigation has been turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
