MIAMI - The state attorney's office confirms there has been a second arrest in connection with what they described as an illegal slaughterhouse in Miami-Dade County.
Yonisley Garcia appeared before a bond court judge Wednesday morning. He is facing seven counts of animal cruelty and one count of operating a business without a license.
The arrest is the result of undercover video that the "One and Only" Local 10 obtained first.
Private animal abuse investigators with Animal Recovery Mission shot the video and presented it to the state attorney's office in hopes it would result in felony arrests.
Several months ago, ARM provided Local 10 exclusive access to that video.
ARM dubbed it "Operation Noche Buena" because it launched the undercover operation on Christmas Eve.
Richard Couto of ARM said Garcia is the man seen in the video kicking a sick goat and participating in what he described as animal torture.
This includes laughing while shooting a pig to stun it before stabbing it with a knife and jamming a hook through the jaw of a pig while it is still alive in order to drag it more than a hundred feet.
Garcia's arrest follows that of Raul "Freaky" Fernandez, who at the time of his arrest was also charged with seven counts of animal cruelty.
Couto said they are still trying to find the man in the video seen violently killing a pig with a sledgehammer.
In the video, operators are also caught on camera boiling a pig alive.
A judge set Garcia's total bond at $35,500 and instructed the court to ensure the money used to post bond does not come from the profits he made from the illegal slaughterhouse.
Should he post bond, the judge ordered him to house arrest with a GPS monitoring device.
