Sergeant struck by car on Interstate 75 in Davie

Davie police Sgt. Patricia Ravine taken to Broward Health Medical Center

DAVIE, Fla. – A Davie police sergeant was taken to a hospital after she was struck by a car while investigating a crash on Interstate 75 in Davie.

It happened shortly before midnight on I-75 south of Royal Palm Boulevard.

The sergeant, identified by the FHP as Patricia Ravine, had pulled over to investigate a rollover crash when she was struck by a Kia on the shoulder in the southbound lanes, police said.

According to the FHP, the man behind the wheel was cited for reckless driving.

"He was a little bit fatigued from working long hours and he was just traveling to get home," FHP Sgt. Richard Glass said.

Glass said the driver failed to obey the move-over law.

Meanwhile, one of the drivers involved in the rollover crash was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.

Ravine was recovering Thursday at Broward Health Medical Center. She has been with the Davie Police Department for 10 years.
