Shane Hoag accused of punching wife in face, hitting 6-month-old daughter

Wife tells judge that Hoag punched her while she was holding baby

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A Hollywood man is accused of punching his wife in the face and hitting his 6-month-old daughter.

Shane Hoag, 26, had little to say in court Tuesday morning as his wife described in detail how he beat her after they got into an argument.

Broward County Judge John Hurley addressed Hoag's wife, who said her husband left her with a swollen eye that required stitches.

"As I was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, he started punching me in my face," she told Hurley.

"Were you holding the little 6-month-old I see in court right now?" Hurley asked.

"Yes, sir," she said.

"And was he punching while you were holding the baby?" Hurley asked.

"Yes, sir," she said. "He was."

Hoag is no stranger to the law. He served a year in jail in 2011 on a terroristic threat conviction in Nebraska. He's also been arrested on charges of driving under the influence and criminal trespassing.

He currently faces charges of aggravated battery and child abuse.

Hurley set Hoag's bond at $175,000.
