Ship sailing to Bahamas with supplies for Red Cross

Supplies being donated to support relief efforts for Bahamas after Hurricane Joaquin

DANIA BEACH, Fla. – A ship will sail for San Salvador and Long Island with relief supplies for the Bahamas Red Cross.

SEACOR Island Lines said it continues to donate supplies and offer the capabilities of its vessels, equipment and logistics chain to support relief efforts for the Bahamas after Hurricane Joaquin.

SEACOR's RoRo vessel Sea Express was expected to sail Saturday evening to San Salvador and Long Island with containers that are filled with pallets of water, clothes, canned goods and supplies for temporary shelter.

More than 40,000 bottles of water is being donated and delivered to Long Island and San Salvador. SEACOR said it is also supporting other businesses that are collecting relief supplies by utilizing its vessels and containers to deliver those supplies to the affected islands.

SEACOR said it has been in contact with the Bahamian National Emergency Management Agency and the Bahamas Red Cross to offer assistance in their relief efforts.
