MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -

Police are searching for the gunman who shot an 18-year-old man at the basketball court of a Miami Gardens school.

The shooting happened at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Parkway Middle School in Miami Gardens.

A group of teens was using the basketball court after hours when police said someone showed up with a gun and started firing.

The victim, who police said was shot multiple times, was taken to Jackson North, then transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was listed in stable condition.

The victim is a student enrolled at a Miami-Dade alternative high school program. His name wasn't immediately released.

Police didn't release a description of the gunman.
