DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – A man is in custody after an early morning shooting in Deerfield Beach.
Broward Sheriff's Office deputies were called to 4517 N. Dixie Highway in reference to a shooting near a Texaco gas station early Wednesday morning.
BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said John White was being abusive to his girlfriend in the parking lot of the gas station when the victim told him to stop.
Witnesses told deputies White "pulled her hair, manhandled her and hit her," Moschella said.
A fight ensued and White shot the victim multiple times, Moschella said.
The victim was taken to North Broward Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
White faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.
