Drug dealer admits to shooting 3 men, Miami-Dade police say

2 killed, 1 in critical condition after shooting

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two people are dead and a third person is in critical condition after a shooting Tuesday night in southwest Miami-Dade County.

Miami-Dade police were called to a shooting during what was first called in as a  home-invasion robbery at an apartment complex off Southwest 99th Avenue near Bird Road just before 11 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found three gunshot victims and the front door and windows of one unit riddled with bullets.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim died at the hospital.

The third victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said the homeowner, Lazaro Gil, 24, admitted to shooting the three men, claiming he was a drug dealer. Officers found a handgun and marijuana in the car of Gil's girlfriend, where he had been sitting. They also found another gun inside his home.

Juan Hurtado told Local 10 News that he thinks one of the men killed may be his cousin, because no one in his family has been able to reach him all day.

"His wife called this morning saying that he left the house around 10 last night and the car that was here happened to be his wife's car," said Hurtado.

Norman Roland, who lives in the apartment complex, said he heard the commotion, looked outside and saw a man lying on the ground.

Leonard Roque said other neighbors are now concerned.

"I told the director of the homeowners (association) that we need security here," Roque told Local 10 News.

One of the victims killed has been identified as Carlos Sanchez, 36. The other 41-year-old man killed has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

"My concern is to make sure that it's my cousin or not," said Hurtado.
