Shoppers line up early Thanksgiving to snag best deals

Some stores opened early Thanksgiving morning, staying open through Black Friday

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. ā€“ Shoppers in South Florida lined up dark and early to snag holiday deals on Thanksgiving morning, also known as Gray Thursday.

At the Kmart location in Hollywood's Oakwood Plaza, shoppers of all ages could be seen clutching coffee cups and keeping warm in sweaters and jackets an hour before the store opened.

Kmart stores across the country opened their doors at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving and will stay open for 42 hours straight.

"I have a limited income and kids I got to shop for, so you got to do what you got to do to afford something," said Beth Nye, who waited outside the store before it opened Thursday.

Customers and store managers say the hottest products with the best deals this year are tablet computers.

"The one we've got on promotion is for 39.99," said store manager Alberto Rodriguez.

Dozens of people were also at Sawgrass Mills Mall early. One couple said they traveled by plane from the Bahamas just to come to South Florida for the holiday specials.

"This is fun. I love doing this every year," said Marsha Smith.
