Sister of lone U.S. citizen killed in Malaysia crash studied in Miami Beach

Quinn Lucas Schansman among 298 dead

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The sister of the lone American who was killed when a Malaysia Airlines jet was shot down over Ukraine once studied English in Miami Beach, Local 10 News learned Friday.

Quinn Lucas Schansman, a dual United States and Dutch citzen, was among the 298 people who died in Thursday's attack, President Barack Obama said.

Schansman's sister, Nerissa, traveled to Miami Beach in 2012 to study English at the EF International Language Center, the school confirmed.

Now Nerissa and the rest of the Schansman family are left mourning.
