Sketch released in armed robbery

Juan Carlos Canales robbed after returning home from work

NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Police on Friday released a sketch of one of two armed robbers who shot an ATM serviceman in the parking lot of a North Miami condominium.

Juan Carlos Canales, 26, remains hospitalized in serious condition after he was robbed, beaten, and shot about 12:20 a.m. on May 5th.  After robbing and beating Canales, the two men locked him in the trunk of his company vehicle, a gray Ford Fiesta. When he was able to escape, they shot him, then fled in the car, say police.

Police say they have since recovered the car.

"Juan Carlos was never afraid of the job," said Alfredo Canales, the victim's brother. "Basically, he was working for three years and nothing ever happened."

A combined $6,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
