MIAMI – A small airplane with four people on board crashed Monday near the Grand Bahama International Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported the crash to the U.S. Coast Guard about 11 a.m. Monday.

According to Bahamian authorities, the Cessna 340 left Ormond Beach, Florida, and was on its way to the airport in Freeport. Authorities said the plane lost communication with the control tower about 10:40 a.m. and crashed into the ocean.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
At this time there is no word on the condition of those on board the plane.
