Small plane makes emergency landing near Weston

WESTON, Fla. – A small plane made an emergency landing on Everglades Parkway near Weston Wednesday afternoon.

A student pilot and instructor took off from North Perry Airport and were conducting training exercises when they had to make an emergency landing in the westbound lanes of I-75, said Sergeant Mark Wysocky of Florida Highway Patrol.

Flight instructor Ivan A. Popov, 22, of Pembroke Pines and 24-year-old student Kaitlyn M. Hildebrandt from Miami Beach were not injured.

From Sky 10 the aircraft could be seen in the median of the westbound lanes of I-75 near mile marker 31.

The single engine Cessna Skyhawk is owned by Christiansen Aviation.

The aircraft had to be moved from the roadway to be disassembled. The FAA is investigating the incident and will determine the cause of the emergency landing.
