Thieves use truck to break into cellphone store

Verizon store off Pines Boulevard hit

PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. – Police are investigating a smash-and-grab theft at a cellphone store early Friday morning.

Pembroke Pines police said the two thieves used a white Ford F-150 pickup with extended cab to smash through the entrance of the Verizon store at the corner of Pines Boulevard and Hiatus Road about 3:45 a.m.

The thieves then rushed inside and grabbed nine cellphones worth $4,450.

Crews were out later in the morning fixing the front entrance.

Investigators hoped surveillance video helps them identify the thieves.

Middle-of-the-night heists happen often in South Florida. Last January, there were three within a week.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
