Son of Canadian couple found dead 2 years ago insists on new investigators

David Pichosky, 72, Rochelle Wise, 66, found dead inside Hallandale Beach home

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Investigators still don't know who killed David Pichosky, 72, and Rochelle Wise, 66, or why the Canadian couple was found dead from asphyxiation inside their winter home in Hallandale Beach two years ago.

"It's so sad on so many levels because it's senseless," said Jamie Wise, Rochelle's son. "It was so the wrong time."

Jamie Wise stood side-to-side with investigators at the time of the couple's death, but now he's blasting them, infuriated with the progress of his mother's case. So much so that he wrote Florida Gov. Rick Scott a scathing letter -- obtained exclusively by Local 10 News -- requesting he appoint another agency to investigate the double killing.

"What is desperately needed is a fresh set of eyes, an independent investigation by an experienced entity capable of cultivating new leads through diligence, openness and the willingness/ability to collaborate more purposely with agencies throughout the state," Jamie Wise said.

Local 10 spoke with Jamie Wise on Thursday afternoon.

"I can only imagine that the longer it goes, the harder it is to find information, find people and people's memories fade, and you know, I want to keep the urgency here that the case of my mother and her husband are not forgotten," Jamie Wise said.

"To be honest with you, I can't even imagine having a family member lost and not knowing why, or be able to hold someone responsible for it, so when I get these letters and I look at these letters, I understand the pain that's behind the letters," Chief Dwayne Flournoy said.

Flournoy told Local 10 it's not common practice to tell families specifics of an investigation, but defended his detectives, insisting they have made quite a bit of progress, including finding surveillance video of a possible suspect, finding a shoe print lifted from the scene, recovering the last images of the couple and discovering a possible motive -- robbery. He said police believe the culprits were targeting Rochelle Wise's $16,000 diamond ring.

"We can understand the family member's desire to have a resolution -- a quick resolution -- but sometimes it's not a quick resolution to these matters," Flournoy said.

"Our fear is that as the Hallandale investigation continues at a crawl, memories will fade, at least until the next murder, and the opportunity to uncover additional information will vanish," Jamie Wise said in his letter to Scott.
