MIAMI - NFL owners on Tuesday awarded Super Bowl L to San Francisco instead of South Florida during their spring meeting in Boston.

Team owners will now decide whether South Florida or Houston will host Super Bowl LI in 2017.

The Florida Legislature failed to vote on a bill that would have opened up public funding for a a proposed $390 million modernization plan at Sun Life Stadium.
