South Florida travel affected by severe weather

Blizzard bears down on northeast

MIAMI - Dozens of South Florida flights have been canceled after a blizzard pummeled the northeast on Friday.

The storm left 100 million people braving sub-zero temperatures and significant snowfall.

At least 22 states are affected by the massive storm impacting travel across the country. More than 2,600 U.S. flights were canceled Thursday and by Friday morning 1,800 had been canceled.

South Florida airports are seeing the effects. At Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, there are 26 arriving flights canceled and 5 arrival delays. In terms of departures, there are 15 flights canceled and 15 delays.

At Miami International Airport, there are 19 cancellations and 45 delays. If you are traveling today, you are urged to call your airline before heading to the airport. You can also check the status of U.S airports by clicking here.
