WASHINGTON ā In less than 24 hours, the world will watch as the United States swears in its 45th president, Donald Trump.
Tickets to watch the inauguration ceremony are the hottest items in town. Ā Most of the tickets have gone to the Trump campaign and party faithful.
"This is the American dream right here," Erwin Nieto said as he held up his tickets to the ceremony.
The Miami woman who founded Latinas for Trump was all smiles when she picked up her tickets.
"This is like a Ā culmination of Ā months and months of volunteering my time and speaking out on behalf of Ā President-elect Ā Trump and we want to celebrate," Ā DeniseĀ GalvezĀ said.
The majority of those picking up tickets at congressional office buildings on Thursday are active and vocal supporters of the Donald Trump presidency. Ā
"I think mostly inaugurations are partisan events because people like me who show up and work the polls, work every day, they feel, 'Wow, we did it. Letās celebrate,'" Ā Marilyn Parmet Ā said.
This is the first inauguration that Tam Brogdon is watching live.
"It feels positive and hopeful to me," she said.
Nieto is attending with a message of peace and unity.
"I just want Americans to get along at the end. I just donāt want to see people fighting about politics,"Ā Nieto said.
In the halls of Congress, there was a bit of hope on Thursday.
"We have to keep pushing forward with the message of equality, love," Aaron Huntsman, of Love Is Love, said.
Huntsman and Lee Jones Ā are from Key West and it was their high-profile case that helped end Florida's ban on gay marriage.
"Other organizations went into hiding and boycotted all of this, but if we donāt keep our cause in the public, we can die off," Lee said.
