UNIONVILLE, Tenn. – Even before the votes were announced, the homecoming nominees at Community High School in Tennessee knew Scott Maloney would be named their king.
The three nominees for homecoming king agreed before the results were read that if any of them won, they'd pass the crown to Maloney who suffers from a neurological genetic condition.
Maloney has Williams Syndrome which inhibits speech and learning. Despite his condition, Maloney remains a popular student at the school in Unionville, Tenn.
When the votes were read on Friday night, Jesse Cooper was named the winner. It was then that the school's principal announced what Maloney's classmates had agreed to do, causing the students on hand to rise for a standing ovation.
