Sports Authority robbery prompts school lockdown

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - Police locked down a school in Deerfield Beach Tuesday evening after an armed robbery at a nearby Sports Authority.

Quiet Waters Elementary School was placed on lockdown about 4:50 p.m. The lockdown was lifted about 45 minutes later.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said deputies received a call about a robbery at 3810 W. Hillsboro Boulevard. An armed man went inside and took cash from the register before leaving.

The robber was last seen wearing a white shirt and a red baseball cap.
