Starving dog found at S. Fla. shopping center
Pets in Distress rescue group steps in to help
A good Samaritan found a starving dachshund behind a Pembroke Pines shopping center and rallied to help save its life.
The doxie, who rescuers named Marvel, was found drinking from a puddle of dirty water near a trash bin at a shopping center at Pines Boulevard and University Drive.
The woman who found the dog called Pets in Distress, a South Florida animal rescue group that immediately stepped in to help.
Kelly Lecain is the driving force behind Pets in Distress.
"She sacrifices so much to help these abused, neglected, starved and unwanted animals. Please help them get some exposure on this horrific case of animal abuse," read an e-mail sent to Local 10.
Pets in Distress reports that this is the third dog in the last 60 days who was found in the same condition.
Tonight at 11, Local 10's Christina Vazquez will speak with the good Samaritan who found Marvel and will also introduce us to Marvel, who has been living at a foster home, getting lots of love and attention.
