Stores, malls stay open later for the holidays

Shops cater to procrastinators

MIAMI – Stores and malls across South Florida are opening earlier and closing later to accommodate the last minute shopping rush.

Dadeland Mall in Southwest Miami-Dade will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday, and will close on Christmas Day. The mall will open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday.

Dolphin Mall in Doral will stay open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, and will close on Christmas. The mall reopens on Dec. 26 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Sawgrass Mills outlet mall in Sunrise  will close at 11 p.m.  on Dec. 23. On Christmas Eve, Sawgrass Mills will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Aventura Mall will be open from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Sunday, 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Dec. 24. and will close on Christmas. The mall will reopen on Dec. 26 from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Best Buy stores will close at 10 p.m. Sunday, then reopen from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26.

Toys R Us stores will remain open around the clock until 10 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Target stores will keep doors open from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. or midnight, depending on the store. On Christmas Eve, most Target stores will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Monday, Dec. 26, stores will be open at 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

BrandsMart locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, too.

Macy's stores close at 11 p.m. Sunday and will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

The national retail federation is calling for about a 4% bump in sales leading up to Christmas.

Retailers on average are offering deeper discounts heading into Tuesday. Analysts say they need to entice customers again who may be strapped for cash after an earlier start this year to black Friday.
