Students released from Cypress Bay after power outage

FPL investigating cause

WESTON, Fla. – A power outage Friday morning forced officials to release students from Cypress Bay High School.

"When we got here this morning, there were no lights for the children coming in," said principal Scott Neely. "When we got in here, the whole school was down -- no electricity, no computers, no phone, no emergency generator backups were working for us."

Florida Power & Light crews tried fixing a nearby switch cabinet, which regulates power in the area, at Bonaventure Boulevard and Vista Park Boulevard.

The school then sent home students who had cars before dismissing the remaining students.
