Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of pregnant woman

Antwone Jackson faces 2 counts of first-degree murder in death of Qualecia James

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A Pembroke Pines man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a pregnant woman in Miami Gardens earlier this year.

Miami Gardens police said Antwone Jackson faces two counts of first-degree murder.

"Thank you God for answering my prayers and having somebody captured for the death of my daughter and her unborn child," the mother of Qualecia James said Wednesday at a news conference.

James was gunned down as she sat in her car at the intersection of Northwest 32nd Avenue and Northwest 182nd Street in March. The 21-year-old expecting mother was seven months pregnant.

Doctors delivered the baby prematurely, but the child didn't survive.
