Suspect caught after massive police search in Miami neighborhood

Man with multiple felony warrants jumps out of car, runs off

MIAMI – Police surrounded a Miami neighborhood Thursday morning in search of a suspect with multiple felony warrants.

The SWAT team was called to the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and 36th Street, where a massive perimeter was established.

Authorities said the suspect was wanted on warrants in numerous cities including Hialeah, where he was wanted on an attempted murder charge.

Local 10 News crime specialist John Turchin reported that U.S. marshals were following the suspect and attempted a traffic stop when he jumped out of a car and ran off.

Police used K-9 officers and armored trucks to patrol the neighborhood.

Eventually, a K-9 officer was able to detect his scent. The suspect was bitten by the dog not far from the gas station where he bailed out and then apprehended.

Paramedics treated the suspect for his bites and took him to a hospital under police watch. A woman who was in the car with the suspect was also taken into custody.

The suspect's identity has not been released at this time.
