SUV crashes into Sunrise chiropractor's office

2 employees inside business when SUV plowed through front glass

SUNRISE, Fla. – Two employees had a close call with an SUV Wednesday morning when the Honda CR-V plowed into a Sunrise chiropractor's office.

The employees said they were just feet away from the SUV, which came crashing through the business at about 8:30 a.m.

Kelly Toole was inside the lobby at Burton chiropractic at 2045 N. University Drive, getting ready to open up the office for business. She said the SUV drove through the front glass and into the waiting area where patients would normally be sitting.

Dr. Bernard Burton, who owns the office, said he was on his way to work when two of his staff members called him to give him the news.

According to the doctor, a woman in her 60s was inside the CR-V, waiting for her husband, when the crash happened.

Burton said she was shaken up, but didn't appear to be injured. The two employees were not injured in the crash.

Burton said the office is still open for business Wednesday, and the building has been deemed safe by a structural engineer from the city of Sunrise.
