'Bored' man, leads police on high-speed chase

30-year-old in custody

(LAKANA) ā€“ A Washington man who led police on a two-county, 49-mile pursuit told authorities that he started the chase because he was "bored."

The 30-year-old sped through an intersection, alerting a sheriff's deputy.

The chase, which hit speeds of 85 mph, lasted an hour and involved multiple agencies, according to The News Tribune.

Deputies set up spike strips to end the chase, and the driver tried to dodge the obstacle, ending up on a farm and hitting a fence, authorities said.

The driver is in jail, charged with attempting to elude a police vehicle. Other charges are pending.
