Tamiami Swing Bridge closed after malfunctions

MIAMI – Due to a malfunction, the Tamiami Swing Bridge has been closed, causing detours for vehicles and pedestrians.

The bridge, which connects the Delaware Parkway to NW South River Drive just north of NW 20th Street in Miami, will remain in the open position for marine traffic until emergency repairs are made to the gear box shaft.

Detours are as follows:

Vehicles traveling northwest on NW 36th Street: Detour signs will direct traffic south onto Northwest South River Drive to head west on NW 28th Street to travel south on NW 37th Avenue, then east on NW 17th Street to NW 27th Avenue.

Vehicles traveling north or south on NW 27th Avenue: Detour signs will direct traffic west on NW 17th Street to north on NW 37th Avenue, then east on NW 28th Street to north on NW South River Drive.

Drivers are encouraged to factor in additional time in their travels to allow for the detours, which are expected to last a minimum of three weeks while repairs are made.
