TAVERNIER, Fla. -

A 19-year-old Tavernier man was arrested Sunday night after he got into a crash at mile marker 97 and deputies found he had 111 grams of marijuana.

Dispatchers received a call about a crash at 11:30 p.m. The caller said a white Mercedes was speeding and hit another car. He said the Mercedes driver wanted to leave and appeared to be intoxicated.

When deputies arrived, Wyatt Bastron kept trying to reach underneath the seat of his car, police said. He told deputies he was reaching for his wallet, but it was in his hand.

According to detectives, a deputy found a Budweiser beer can on the floorboard and a small vial of white powder, which Bastron said was "Molly."

In the trunk of the car, police found four cases of beer and a backpack that Bastron said was his. Inside the backpack was 111 grams of marijuana. A digital scale was also found.

Bastron was booked into jail on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a felony amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by someone under the age of 21.

More charges are pending.
