Teacher killed when stolen car crashes into Mercedes-Benz in Coral Springs

Christianne Weiner taught fourth grade at Coral Springs Elementary School

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A woman who was killed when a stolen car crashed into her Mercedes-Benz was a fourth-grade teacher at Coral Springs Elementary School.

Christianne Weiner, 53, was killed in Tuesday's crash at Sample Road and Northwest 101st Avenue in Coral Springs. Her 11-year-old son was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said officers attempted to stop a stolen Toyota Corolla on Sample Road when the driver, later identified as Eric Abraham, 17, kept going, traveling east. Police said the car ran a red light and struck Weiner's Mercedes-Benz, which was traveling north on Northwest 101st Avenue.

Weiner was taking her son to a dentist's appointment at the time of the crash, another son told Local 10 News.

Police said Abraham and four other occupants of the stolen car were taken to Broward Health North with serious injuries. They were later arrested.

One of the passengers, Tyree Goodwin, 18, appeared in court Wednesday morning. He was being held on a $3,500 bond.

"This is a very serious, very violent offense in which there was a fatality involved," Broward County Judge Michael Davis said. "Although he was not alleged to be the driver of the vehicle, he was alleged to have participated in stealing the vehicle and was a passenger."

Abraham faces the most serious charges, including vehicular homicide. Records show Abraham has been arrested five times in the last four years on multiple felony charges of burglary and grand theft.

Weiner's son was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday night.
