Christian Aguilar, 18, shot during attempted carjacking

Teen inside car when 3 armed men approached him

KENDALL, Fla. – Police are searching for three armed men who shot a teenager during an attempted carjacking in southwest Miami-Dade County.

Christian Aguilar, 18, said he parked in the driveway of his home when the men approached him and demanded his blue Honda Civic.

It happened near the corner of Southwest 123rd Court and 187th Street about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

One of the men shot through the car, the bullet piercing Aguilar in the stomach.

Those men then left without the car, leaving Aguilar bloody in the driver's seat.

Aguilar was taken to Kendall Regional Medical Center, where a detective told Local 10 he is recovering.

Doctors are still trying to determine if he will need surgery.

Police said the men got away in a gold Toyota.
