HIALEAH, Fla. - Jackie Ruiz and her husband and 19-month-old son Fabian had just moved into the neighborhood. They've been in the house less than two weeks. They haven't even finished unpacking.
Then, sometime after they called it a night Tuesday, someone swiped the Christmas decorations and lights they put up on the front lawn.
"Angry at first. Extremely bitter," said Ruiz. "It's unbelievable that somebody would be so inconsiderate around this time of holiday."
The thief, or thieves, stole several inflatables, including a Mickey Mouse, a Santa, a snowman and a reindeer. They also took a string of Christmas lights.
"Nice Christmas gift right before the holidays," Ruiz told Local 10 Crime Specialist John Turchin.
What makes this more upsetting for Ruiz is this was her son's first real Christmas.
"He loved them. He played with them. He pushed 'em. He just always wanted to be around them," recalled Ruiz. "The Grinch pretty much stole the Christmas from our child."
