FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The owner of a Fort Lauderdale cigar shop and liquor store says thieves broke their way into his stores, stealing the cash registers and a bottle of liquor.

It happened Monday at Macabi Cigars at 1221 E. Las Olas Blvd.

Pat Patel, who owns the cigar shop and liquor store next door for 20 years, says it's the store's first break-in.

Thieves used a cinder block to break the glass on the front door.

A cash register was stolen with money inside. Patel did not say how much was taken, only saying it was a big loss.

Thieves took two cash registers and a bottle of liquor next door and broke a second bottle. Patel showed Local 10 the broken glass and boards put up on the front doors.

Patel says he does have surveillance cameras, but police currently have the footage.
