Thieves target victims withdrawing money at Cooper City bank

Victims withdraw thousands of dollars

COOPER CITY, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for two thieves who staked out a Bank of America in Cooper City to find people who were withdrawing large amounts of money.

The incident was reported Oct. 13 at a Bank of America branch at the Countryside Shops.

According to detectives, one of the thieves pretended to fill out slips and then waited in line behind two cu who were withdrawing large sums of money.

Surveillance video shows the man watching the teller count out several thousand dollars, and then he moves away to text his accomplice.

Detectives said the thieves followed the victims to their next location, waited for them to leave their cars and went in after the money.

The victims both returned to their cars to find the thieves in the act. Detectives said both victims chased the thieves, but were unsuccessful.

The man and his accomplice seen in the surveillance video drove away in a newer-model black Ford Explorer.
