Tourists forced out of rooms after hotel fire

MIAMI ā€“ Tourists were forced out of their hotel rooms after a fire on Saturday.

The Alamo Hotel on Indian Creek Drive was deemed unsafe by the city because of the smoke and water damage. Tourists said the fire began in an electrical room in the back of the hotel.

"I came back to the hotel and saw the fire trucks," said Mustafa Hamad, who is visiting from Afghanistan.

The Red Cross passed out water and food until firefighters allowed people to go inside the hotel and gather up their belongings. The hotel is paying for everyone to stay at another hotel for the next couple of days.

"We can't stay there anymore and we are being relocated to the Beach Place Hotel, which is quite far from here," said Charlie Cavanagh.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
