According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kimberly Ann Montgomery, 42, was walking across I-95 when she was struck by a Dodge truck driven by Paul Lewis, 58, throwing her into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle behind Lewis, a 2004 Saab driven by Yelba Farina, 31, struck the rear of his vehicle causing him to run over Montgomery.

Montgomery was then pinned under the Saab, but rescuers managed to pull her out. She was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.

The Florida Highway Patrol said two other vehicles were involved in the crash, striking the barrier wall and the Saab. Passengers in those vehicles suffered minor injuries.

Northbound traffic was backed up for several miles after the crash.
