PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – Tropical Storm Arthur formed off the Florida coast Tuesday morning, becoming the first named storm of the 2014 hurricane season.
Arthur continued to churn in the Atlantic Ocean, remaining relatively stationary for much of the day.
The storm at 11 p.m. Tuesday was located about 150 miles north-northeast of Miami. It had maximum sustained winds at 50 mph and was moving north at 2 mph.

"It is now starting to make that move, albeit slow, towards the north," Local 10 meteorologist Betty Davis said.
Arthur is forecast to become a Category 1 hurricane Thursday.
The storm is expected to skirt the coastline of the Carolinas by late Thursday night or early Friday morning.
Local 10 hurricane specialist Max Mayfield said the computer models have remained consistent.
"This is not a direct threat for South Florida," Davis said.
