Ultra headliner hospitalized, misses Thursday night performance

TMZ reports Avicii missed set at South Beach hotel, canceled weekend appearance

MIAMI – An electronic music DJ scheduled to perform at the Ultra Music Festival canceled a Thursday night appearance, according to a report by TMZ.

Avicii, the 24-year-old whose real name is Tim Bergling, was scheduled to perform at Hyde Beach at the SLS Hotel on South Beach but did not appear. TMZ reports another DJ informed the crowd Avicii had been hospitalized. A later report said Avicii had been discharged from the hospital.

TRAFFIC DETOURS: ULTRA MUSIC FESTIVAL

The illness appears to be sudden, as just hours before Avicii had tweeted: "The Miami madness begins today! Starting off with Luciano at Avicii hotel tonight." The tweet also included a link to purchase tickets, ranging in price from $1,000 to $3,500.

The SLS Hotel has been re-branded for the weekend as the Avicii Hotel, adding several additional events to the already-packed musical weekend in South Florida.

Avicii has not commented on the event cancellation or whether he'll make his 11 p.m. set Saturday at Bayfront Park, but TMZ is reporting that he had to cancel his weekend appearance.

It appears the Swedish-born star is not the only DJ to have some medical trouble this week. Afrojack, another DJ scheduled to perform at Ultra on Sunday, tweeted Thursday about his recent trip to the hospital.

"Now omw to the hospital to prevent an early end to the weekend," it read.

Another tweet added, "Im okay, dehydrated and overworked, guess I got a little too excited."

Later messages made it appear as though Afrojack continued his night out, as he posted videos and photos with labels from LIV and Mansion night clubs.
