MIAMI -

The uncle of former Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina accepted a plea deal Wednesday for ballot fraud charges.

Sergio Robaina received 1 year probation after pleading guilty to two county ordinance violations for possessing more than two absentee ballots at once. Prosecutors dropped two felony charges of ballot tampering in exchange.

Robaina must also pay a $916 fine.

Police arrested Robaina in August 2012. Police reports say he touched more than 200 absentee ballots and illegally dropped them off for voters.
