MIAMI -

An undercover Miami-Dade police detective shot three times in a drug raid last year was honored at the White House on Saturday.

Detective John Saavedra was presented with an award by President Barack Obama. He was part of group of officers from across the country who were recognized for going beyond their call of duty.

"You embody America at its best and at its bravest," said President Obama.

Saavedra was shot three times during a raid on a marijuana grow house in west Miami-Dade. The wild shootout was caught on surveillance camera.

The video was released earlier this week during a court hearing involving one of the two men accused of running the drug house.

The President also saluted officers who responded to the Boston Marathon terror attack, as well as the mass shooting at a Sikh temple in Wisconsin.
