Underground clandestine marijuana lab found in Miami home

Police discover entrance to underground lab underneath baby crib

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ The entrance to an underground clandestine marijuana laboratory was discovered Tuesday underneath a baby crib, Miami-Dade police said.

Acting on a tip, narcotics detectives went to the home at 12485 SW 220th St.

Police said the entrance to the underground lab was found in the master bedroom of the home, underneath the crib.

The laboratory stretched the length of the backyard and was concealed underground, inside the covered shell of a pool, according to police.

Police said detectives seized 30 pounds of marijuana from the laboratory.

A man and a woman, who weren't identified by police, were both arrested. Police said it is unclear if they are the owners of the home or if they are renting.

The discovery comes after police found a fully operational underground marijuana laboratory in a swimming pool.

A west Boca Raton neighborhood was also evacuated Tuesday morning after an explosion at what deputies called a marijuana grow house.

Anyone with information regarding this recent discovery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
