'Not My Life' aims to raise awareness on modern day slavery

MIAMI – There is a dark hidden world where children are exploited.

Some girls are trapped into forced labor or domestic servitude. Some boys are stuck in the evil  industry of sex tourism.

The United Nations Women's Miami chapter wants to raise awareness about an issue that deeply affects South Florida.

They are hosting a screening of Robert Bilheimer's "Not My Life" documentary, which was filmed in five continents and dozens of countries.

The film, released in 2011, exposes the dynamics of modern day slavery on a global scale.

The October 23rd reception begins at 6:30 p.m. at ArtCinema at Miami-Dade College's Koubek Center, 2705 SW 3rd St., Miami. The film begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 before Oct. 23rd and $30 at the door.
