Vladamir Estele, 19, admits to crime after detectives show up at Key West home

KEY WEST, Fla. – A vehicle burglary suspect in the Florida Keys was arrested after he left his wallet behind, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

Deputy Lazaro Valdez was called Wednesday morning to a vehicle burglary at a Stock Island home in the Key Haven neighborhood. The victim said someone had ransacked her unlocked vehicle and taken money from inside.

As Valdez was searching the area near where the burglary occurred, he found a wallet. Inside it was identification for Vladamir Estele, 19, of Key West, Herrin said.

Detectives went to the address listed on the ID and knocked on the door. Estele answered and said he lost his ID when detectives asked him for it.

Estele admitted to being in the Key Haven neighborhood between 2 and 5 a.m., entering vehicles and taking loose change, Herrin said.

Meanwhile, deputies received reports of several more vehicle burglaries in the neighborhood. One victim told them he had surveillance video of three people burglarizing his Jeep while it was parked in his driveway.

Herrin said Estele told detectives that he was accompanied by two friends he knows only as "Stevie and Ashley." He told them he does not know their last names or where they live.

Estele faces one count of vehicle burglary, but more charges are pending.
